Grossarl: Penkkopf (2,011 m)
From the Sonneggbrücke or the parking space Breitenebenalm it goes through the forest to the Breitenebenalm, which is not managed in winter.
Continue through the forest towards Grosswildalm (also this pasture is not farmed in winter). You go upwill to the Penkkopf. From here you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.
Numerous options for descents are along the ascent route. The tour is a scenic, moderate ski tour and is from November to April (sufficient snow is necessary) possible. Coming from St. Johann, this tour is the first to reach as well as the route to the Kitzstein (Gabel), and is a perfect place to go. Even on bad weather days, the tour to the Penkkopf is feasible.
If you combine the tour with the ski tour to the Kitzstein (Gabel), you have a nice day trip!
