From the village center of Grossarl, there is one walking possibility in direction towards St. Johann and in direction towards Hüttschlag.

Walking towards St. Johann: Comfortable hike from the village center of Grossarl along the river. After about 3 km you reach the hotel Schiederhof. There you can taste local delicacies. You continue for approx. 2 km in the direction towards St. Johann - back on the same route or you return by public bus.

Walking towards Hüttschlag: You walk upstream along the river from the village center of Grossarl. Just after the bridge, there is an old mill. You continue along the river and you pass several houses and the Gruber carpentry as well as the Kaiserbau. Afterwards, the path leads past many meadows to the Landhaus Neumayr. Here you cross the river. The route continues upwards. On the left hand-side, there is the Bichl Chapel. This chapel was built in the 17th century and is part of the Chapel Path. You continue past some farms until you reach a small incline. Past the Griesbichl Chapel you continue to the Neuhof Chapel and from here you walk around the tunnel to the village center of Hüttschlag. There are 2 inns. Continue through the village center to the district of Wolfau. A small detour to the Wolfau Chapel is definitely worth. After a short part along the street, the valley hiking and cycling path continues along the river to the end of the valley in Hüttschlag. You pass the Aschaustüberl, the Talwirt and the Bauernladenstüberl. Continue along the traffic-free hiking path into the valley end, to the Ötzlsee. Back on the same route or by public bus.

Since there are almost no steep places on the whole route, this hike is also suitable with children's carriages or wheelchairs. This route is also possible in winter.
