This hike starts at the Hallmoosalm in Hüttschlag. After a short walk along the forestry road, turn off and follow the alpine path to the Karteisalm (closed).

Walk across alpine meadows (especially beautiful in early summer when the alpine roses are in bloom) to the Karteistörl. From there you have a wonderful view on the Tappenkarsee, the largest mountain lake in the alps. According to legend, it is connected to the Schuhflickersee. A wagon wheel that fell into the Tappenkarsee was found in the Schuhflickersee...

Leisurely descent to the Tappenkarseehütte. This alpine club hut is located directly at the Tappenkarsee. Warm delicacies such as Kaiserschmarrn (pancakes) or Heidelbeerschmarrn (blueberry pancakes) also tempt you here.

Continue along the Tappenkarsee to the Tappenkarseealm. Then ascend to the Draugsteintörl. Descent to the Draugsteinalmen. Here the flora and fauna are particularly beautiful, as there are many species of flowers in this area due to the limestone, which are otherwise very rare in the valley. Two alpine huts are waiting - the one on the right is the Draugsteinalm-Steinmannhütte, the one on the left is the Draugsteinalm-Schrambachhütte. Both offer delicacies from their own production and you can also spend the night there. From the Draugsteinalmen, you can take a leisurely walk back to the parking space Hallmoosalm.

In addition to a snack, the Tappenkarseehütte also offers warm delicacies. The Kaiser and blueberry pancakes are particularly popular. The hut also has rooms to spend the night. Sunrises and sunsets are particularly beautiful at Tappenkarsee.
