Daily tour in Hüttschlag from the Karteistörl to the Draugsteintörl with a picturesque view to the Lake Tappenkar.
The hiking tour starts at the Hallmoosalm in Hüttschlag. After a short distance on the way you hike on the hiking path to the Karteisalm. This mountain hut is closed. Just around the Karteisalm there is a small fountain - the water in the mountains in Grossarl Valley has everywhere drinking quality.
On alpine meadows (really beautiful in spring when the mountain roses flourish) you hike to the Karteistörl. From there you have a picturesque view to the Lake Tappenkar, which is the biggest mountain lake in the eastern Alps. According the legend the Tappenkarsee is connected with the Schuhflickersee. There should had been found a wheel which fell into the Lake Tappenkar...
Then you hike along the ridge to the Gurenstein and further to the Draugsteintörl. Due to the chalk of the Draugstein in this area the flora is inimitable. You can find flowers which you find only in this area.
Then you desend to the Draugsteinalmen - on the left hand side there is the Schrambachhütte, on the right hand side the Steinmannhütte. Here you can taste self-made delicacies like bread, butter or cheese.
After your break you hike down to the Hallmoosalm, which is the start point of the tour.
If you want to see the Tappenkarsee it's worthwhile taking the "detour" to the Tappenkarsee which takes about 1 1/2 h.
