Grossarl: Maurachalm-Kitzstein (Gabel) - Karseggalm - Breitenebenalm
You hike up on a forest road to the Muggenfeldalm (closed) and further to the Maurachalm. Sometimes you can take the shortcuts through the forest.
The Maurachalm is the most northern mountain hut in Grossarltal and you have a great view from there. Sometimes the Hirter (=the man who is responsible for the mountain hut) plays his harmonica.
You hike up to the Kitzstein (Gabel). There the panoramic view is unique.
Further you descend to the Karseggalm, which is the oldest mountain hut in Grossarltal. There is no electricity in the hut and the floor is out of loam and tree bark. Of course you can taste the self-made products like bread, butter, cheese or a schnaps.
After a break you hike down on the hiking path to the Breitenebenalm. Here you get a wide range of self-made cakes or even an apple strudel.
You can decide if you want to hike down the shortcuts through the forest or you take the way back to the Sonneggbrücke, which is the start point of the tour.
