This hiking tour starts at the end of the Ellmautal, which is the largest side valley of Grossarltal. Starting point is the car parking Grund. You reach the Filzmoosalm on a beautiful hiking path (or alternatively via the forestry road). This mountain hut is situated in an untouched natural landscape. The wide alpine pastures and meadows are limited on the one side by grass-covered mountain peaks and on the other side by the limestones of the Draugstein and the Grosser Schneibenstein.
After a little refreshment with homemade delicacies you hike upwards, where you pass lots of Swiss stone pine trees. You ascend to the Filzmooshörndl. From here you have a wonderful view to the Hohe Tauern, as well as the Hochkönig and the Dachstein.
Of course you can also see the majestic Draugstein towering over the Ellmautal. This mountain is one of three limestone mountains in Grossarltal.
You hike downwards to the Filzmooshöhe. There is a different, but beautiful summit cross. Finally you reach the Filzmoossattel. Directly at the Fillzmoossattel, there is a particularly beautiful Enzian, the symbol of the Salzburg Almenweg, which also includes the part from the Filzmoossattel to the Filzmoosalm.
You descend again over the alpine pastures to the Filzmoosalm, where you can once again strengthen yourself with homemade delicacies.
