On the first day you start at the Hallmoosalm (car park) in Hüttschlag. From here you start your hike trough the forest and pass the Karteisalm (not opened). Aferwards the trail continues over alpine meadows (especially beautiful in early summer whet the "Almrosen" are in bloom) to the Kreuzeck. From here you have a fantastic view on the Tappenkarsee, the largest mountain lake in the Alps.
Afterwards, you descend via the Karteistörl to the Tappenkarsee. Directly next to the lake there is the Tappenkarseehütte and the Tappenakrseealm. Then you hike uphill again to the Draugsteintörl and downhill to the Draugsteinalmen. Arrived here, you can choose one of the two huts (either the Steinmannhütte or the Schrambachhütte). Both offer delicacies from their own production and overnight stays.

Turn-by-turn directions
From the car park "Hallmoosalm (1.300 m) you first hike a short path trough the forest (No. 53, 721). After approx. 1 km you follow the hiking trail (No. 53, 721) on the left and after about 1 hour you reach the Karteisalm (1.661 m; not opened). Hike on and then branch off tn the hiking trail No. 53a and go up to the Kreuzeck (2.204 m; about 2 hours). Decent via the "Karteistörl" (2.154 m) to the Tappenkarseehütte (1.820 m; 1 hour). Walk along the Tappenkarsee to the Tappenkarseealm (1.768 m; 1/2 hour). Ascent on path No. 12 to the Draugsteintörl (2.077 m) and walk down on path No. 54 to the Draugseinalmen (1.778 m). From the Draugsteintörl it leasts about 1 hour to get to the Draugsteinalmen (Steinmannhütte and Schrambachhütte).
