On the first day of this hike, it's a leisurely hike up to the Heugathalm and on to the Gerstreitalm. Freshly strengthened, you reach the Saukaralm the next day. The view from here is simply unique. The Hohe Tauern, the Hochkönig as well as the Tennen and Hagen mountains make this alp one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Grossarl valley. Over the Spatkar it goes past the Trögseen. These "lakes" are small mountain lakes that are always good for cooling off, especially in midsummer. Along the ridge you get to the Gründegg. Here descent to the Loosbühelalm and on to the Filzmoosalm. Waked up by cowbells and freshly strengthened by a delicious alpine breakfast, on the third day you climb up to the Filzmoossattel and the Filzmooshöhe, where there is a summit cross designed with great attention to detail. If you look back now, you can see the mighty Draugstein. Ascent to the Filzmooshörndl, from where you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and a fantastic summit experience. Then descent is to the Stangersattel and on to the Remsteinkopf. You can make a final stop at the Bichlalm and enjoy a Brettljause before heading back to the starting point in the center of Grossarl via the Himmersleiter.

Author’s recommendation

The Bichlalm is one of the mountain huts in the Großarltal with great views. Just below the hut there is a bench where you can particularly enjoy the view.
