Great round tour in Hüttschlag, where you reach 3 mountain huts.
This walking starts at the parking space at Gasthof Talwirt. Here you can taste local delicacies and you can buy bacon. On the first floor of the Talwirts is the Bergwaldausstellung and an information point from the Hohe Tauern national park. The Hüttschlager Bauernladenstüberl is also nearby, where you can also buy self-made products from. Right next door is the valley museum of the Grossarltal.
From Talmuseum you hike downstream to the old Haussteingut. Then you continue through the forest (here, you have the choice, whether you are hiking along the forestry road or rather on the short-cuts through the forest) to Hirschgrubenalm. This is the first mountain hut, which you reach at this hiking tour.
Then you hike to the Aschlreitalm. Here is the next opportunity to enjoy self-made delicacies, such as bread, butter, cheese, sausages or bacon.
From here, you hike up through alpine meadows to the ridge. From here you have a magnificent view to the glacier of Keeskogel, 2,884 m, the highest mountain and the only glacier in the entire Grossarltal.
Then you hike downwards to the Modereggalm. Here you can enjoy self-made delicacies. The descent is then on a relatively steep hiking path. Back in the valley, you pass the Pertill farm to the Pertill Chapel, which was built as a thank you for a happy return from the Second World War. Then you come back to the Gasthof Talwirt, the starting point of the tour.
From the ridge, you have a great view to the Keeskogel.
