You hike up on a forest road to the Muggenfeldalm (closed) and further to the Maurachalm. Sometimes you can take the shortcuts through the forest.

The Maurachalm is the most northern mountain hut in Grossarltal and you have a great view from there. Sometimes the Hirter (=the man who is responsible for the mountain hut) plays his harmonica.

Then you hike along the Wagrainer Höhenweg to the Sonntagskogel. Up there, you have a great view to the surrounding mountains. You hike down to the Grafenbergbahn (cable cars) in Wagrain.

Author’s recommendation

Wagraini's Grafenberg is a great playground for children.
