The hiking tour starts at the Hallmoosalm in Hüttschlag. After a short distance on the way you hike on the hiking path to the Karteisalm (closed). Just around the Karteisalm there is a small fountain - the water in the mountains in Grossarltal has everywhere drinking quality.
On alpine meadows (really beautiful in spring when the mountain roses flourish) you hike to the Karteistörl. From there you have a picturesque view to the Lake Tappenkar, which is the biggest mountain lake in the Eastern Alps. According the legend the Tappenkarsee is connected with the Schuhflickersee. There should had been found a wheel which fell into the Lake Tappenkar...
You descend to Tappenkarseehütte. This Alpine club hut is located directly at the Lake Tappenkar. Here, you can also enjoy warm delicacies such as Kaiserschmarrn.
You continue along the Lake Tappenkar to the Tappenkarseealm. In several serpentines the path leads down to the Schwabalm, from here it is possible to take the hiking taxi back to Grossarltal. Then a forestry road leads to the Jägersee. The Jägersee is a popular destination for young and old. From here you can take the public bus back to Grossarltal.
