Hiking tour from the Sonneggbrücke in Grossarl to the Muggenfeldalm and the Maurachalm.
Distance 11.6 km
The starting point of this tour is the Sonneggbrücke in Grossarl. You hike along the forestry road to the Muggenfeldalm (closed) and to the Maurachalm. You can also take the short-cuts through the forest.
The Maurachalm is the most northern mountain hut within Grossarltal. Up there, you are spoiled with self-made delicacies like bread, butter, cheese, bacon or sausages. They produce especially good schnapps and sometimes the people on the mountain hut sing and play music.
You can reach the Maurachalm even if the weather is bad, because you hike along the forestry road.
You go by car or hiking taxi on the Sonneggweg to the Sonneggbrücke - parking possibility. You hike up the way no. 71 (sometimes there are shor-tcuts through the forest) to the Muggenfeldalm, 1,545 m (about 1 3/4 h, closed) and further to the Maurachalm, 1,620 m (about 1/4 h). Back on the same route.
